Wonderful, Merciful Savior

I had finished this arrangement up in early 2012, but never felt quite satisfied with some parts of the third verse. I recently made a few “tweaks” which made me like it better, so I thought I’d go ahead and record it and put it out here. :-/ If this hymn is new to you, I would encourage you to go here and read the lyrics. This hymn has been a wonderful encouragement to our church, and I trust this arrangement will help you introduce or further the familiarity of this beautiful hymn in your place of ministry. Keep on!

Free: Angels We Have Heard On High – Early Intermediate Piano Duet

I thought I would share this piece in case anyone else might be able to use it for this Christmas. It’s a 4-hand one-piano duet I just finished up for my boys to play. (side note: I use the Alfred Premier Piano Series to teach my boys and they are currently in Book 3…that’s how I came up with the difficulty level and what musical elements to employ.) I really enjoyed writing this, as in all my years of writing this is my first attempt ever at a piano duet of any kind! If you decide to use this piece, I’d really love any feedback on anything you liked about it and any ideas to make it better. Click on the links below to listen to the piece and view/download the music for free (I’ll leave it up for free until the end of the year). God bless!

What Child Is This?

This has always been one of my favorite Christmas melodies (not that the words aren’t wonderful, too!) and was the first song on my 2007 “A Quiet Christmas” CD. Last year, I decided to write out the original arrangement so that I could play it for Christmas and ended up expanding it by adding some original material. Perhaps you will find it useful for your situation, and so I figured I’d put out here–still enough ahead of Christmas that you should have time to learn it. You’ll notice I decided to use a synth sound I just love for Christmas, but it works just as well for true solo piano. Merry Christmas!

Complete in Thee

Our church really enjoys singing this new tune for Complete in Thee and it seems well-known enough among other churches at this point that I thought a piano arrangement might be useful. If your church is not currently familiar with this tune, then you might consider introducing it as a congregational hymn first. You can get the music here. This is an easy arrangement, and should be playable by most church pianists. God bless!

It Is Well With My Soul

I have always loved this hymn and the story behind it.  For this arrangement, I tried to bring out the words of each stanza, but I also had to balance the musicality of the piece.  So, it is important to realize when listening to or playing this piece that I was thinking of the verses in this order: 1, 3, 2, 4.  I hope you will find it to be a blessing, and welcome your feedback!

Angels from the Realms of Glory (piano solo)

This is a fairly easy Christmas arrangement of this lesser-used (seems to me, anyway) Christmas hymn.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

God Rest Ye Merry GentlemenI played this last year for Christmas and just finally got it written out… :-/ Follow your ear on this piece…it’s really a lot simpler than written music makes it look…had to be creative with my time signatures, even after some excellent input from some smart friends (thank you James and Greg!). Hope it will be usable for you. Merry (early) Christmas!

Like A River Glorious (piano solo)

This is the tenth track on my CD, A Place of Quiet Rest II, and one I have used as an offertory numerous times.  I have also had several younger high school players in our church play this arrangement without any difficulty. The piece is flowing and can be kept quiet throughout, although I tend to play page three (especially the area with the left hand octave melody) louder in a live setting as compared to the CD.

No Not One (piano solo)

This is really a pretty simple arrangement with essentially the same movement in both hands over and over. The main challenge is gaining a comfort level with being all over the keyboard in different octaves.

A Child Of The King (piano solo)

This is probably my favorite song from my first CD.  My goal was to make the arrangement reflect the child-like faith we should have in our Father’s unfailing care for us.
